Research Scientist (Bioinformatics)
Anna Syme is a Research Scientist at the RBGV, working in bioinformatics. Specifically, she is working on the Bioplatforms Australia project: Genomics for Australian plants, which will begin by sequencing and assembling genomes for several iconic Australian plant species.
Previously, Anna worked at Melbourne Bioinformatics (at Melbourne University), in microbial genomics and bioinformatics training. Much of the training was developed and delivered on the Galaxy Australia bioinformatics platform. Anna is particularly interested in evolutionary biology, and has used DNA to investigate evolutionary relationships between species in Crustacea (ostracods), grasses (stipoids) and fungi.
