National Reconciliation Week: 27 May – 3 June

National Reconciliation Week aims to strengthen respectful relationships between Aboriginal, Torres Straight Islanders and other Australians. Melbourne Gardens is an incredibly significant heritage site for the Koolin People. In acknowledgement of this, our Aboriginal Heritage Walk is available for FREE every day for this week only.

Explore the Gardens and walk in the footsteps of the Boon wurrung people to learn about the important relationships our local custodians still share with this land after thousands of years. “Let’s Take the Next Steps” is the theme for National Reconciliation Week, so join us and our Indigenous guide in the Koolin People’s traditional welcome smoking ceremony. Discover how our native plants can be used for food, medicine and tools and understand the customs of our first nation while sipping on a warm cup of lemon myrtle tea.

Our guided tours are limited to 25 people per group, so you will have ample opportunity to ensure all your questions are answered.

Bookings are essential, please contact our Visitor Centre on 03 9252 2429.
