Australian Garden sensory tours

A recent visit by Vision Australia’s Dandenong Low Vision Group gave our Garden Ambassadors a chance to put their Audio Descriptor Tour skills into practice.

The group of 18, accompanied by two gorgeous Assistance Dogs, took in the Australian Garden with the Garden Ambassadors providing a very detailed commentary along the way. While dogs are not permitted in the Cranbourne Gardens, exceptions are always made for Assistance Dogs.

The Garden Ambassadors complete a rigorous training program which includes a training session with an accredited Vision Australia representative to deliver Audio Descriptor Tours.

The clip below was created by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and shows a sensory tour training session with some of our lovely volunteers. Many thanks to DHS for kindly allowing us to add the clip to the Melbourne Gardens You Tube channel.

If you would like to organise an Audio Descriptor Tour for your group or school, please contact the Visitor Centre at Cranbourne Gardens on (03) 5990 2200.
