Arts event on Long Island

This Sunday, Long Island will become the third venue for sound artist Geoff Robinson’s ‘Site Overlay/Acoustic Survey’ event.

Developed by Geoff in partnership with Experimenta Media Arts and Arts Victoria, the project uses sound, performance and installation to explore the relationship between three interior, exterior, built and botanic environments.

Geoff has recorded atmospheric sounds at three Melbourne locations – the Rooftop Pavilions at RMIT Design Hub, the Forest Gallery at Melbourne Museum, and Long Island at Melbourne Gardens – and he will revisit these locations between 29 November and 1 December for hour-long performances.

The event will see sound speakers temporarily installed on Long Island alongside performance contributions from Ernie Althoff, Tim Catlin, Alice Hui-Sheng Chang, Matthew Davis, Aviva Endean, Helen Grogan, Rosalind Hall, Dylan Martorell and Charlie Sofo.

Date: Sunday 1 December
Time: 1 – 2pm
Location: Long Island at Melbourne Gardens
Details: Experimenta Media Arts and RMIT University
