An ode to Betty Amsden
Tim Entwisle and the Board, Foundation and staff of Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria would like to pay tribute to Director’s Circle member Betty Amsden AO DSJ. We feel honoured to have had Betty as a member of our Gardens community and join with her many friends and all those whose lives she touched, in mourning the loss of an extraordinary woman and philanthropist. Betty inspired us all – her desire to give to causes relating to children, the arts and environment was legendary. We are grateful for Betty’s generous support of Circle, the upcoming national exhibition of visual art from Jeannie Baker’s children’s book, as well as the many opportunities her generosity provided to marginalised students through Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s education programs. Betty was also an advisory member of the Director’s Circle and Campaign Committee. We honour Betty’s memory and the valuable contribution she made to Melbourne and beyond. Betty has left an incredible legacy.
