Australian Deserts

Available at the spectacular Cranbourne Gardens 

Discover how plants and animals can survive in the extreme conditions of desert environments.

Students will examine the features of Australian plants and how they enable the plants to conserve water. They will learn about the amazing adaptations of desert animals and uncover what makes Australian deserts unique.

Students will

  • Explore plant parts under a microscope and analyse their adaptations
  • Measure temperature changes through the creation of animal burrows 
  • Pot up their own plant to take home
