Grants & Sponsorship

Grants from individuals and philanthropic foundations and sponsorships from business are vital to the Royal Botanic Gardens’ ability to advance knowledge, enjoyment and conservation of plants and to communicate the essential role that plants play in all life on earth.

Some of the types of grants and sponsorships available include:

  • sponsoring conservation and environmental education programs;
  • supporting the design and development of horticultural displays;
  • assisting in the care of specimens of great scientific, historic and cultural value; and
  • improving accessibility to the results of scientific research for groups such as local councils and schools.

How grants and sponsorships are helping

Grants and sponsorships received by the Royal Botanic Gardens help the institution and its visitors in a variety of ways:

  • public access to the information stored in the preserved plant collections has been significantly improved;
  • an award-winning environmental education children's garden has been created that is being visited by children and school groups;
  • a volunteer master gardener program is being developed for the Australian Garden;
  • donated garden tools and water conservation education equipment is enabling visitors and students to get their hands dirty; and
  • upgrading of irrigation systems is ensuring considerable water savings.
