Maurine Wrigley
Born 1937 and educated at St Arnaud, where her parents ran a small mixed farm. Maurine trained as a nurse in
Melbourne
then moved to
Geelong
to raise her family. Maurine’s country up-bringing made her a keen observer of the beauty of nature and likes to share this emotional experience through her paintings. After completing a three year certificate course in fine art, and continuing her art education, she became proficient in many mediums, has presented a solo show and has participated in shared exhibitions and won many awards. Maurine’s passion for Australian flora encouraged her to study Botanical Art in 2004 tutored by Margaret Muffet and John Pastoriza-Piñol at Geelong Botanical Gardens. She has also attended workshops by Stephanie Goss and Rita Parkinson. In 2006 she exhibited paintings of Victorian lichens at The Royal Horticultural Society Exhibition, in
Birmingham
,
UK
and was awarded a silver-gilt medal.
