Marta Salamon

In the 1980s I completed a Batchelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education with a major in Fine Arts. My interest in botanical art coincided with Jenny Phillips classes in botanical illustration and since 1996 I have exhibited regularly in the Friend's exhibition of "The art of Botanical Illustration." My painting of a waratah was selected as the icon painting for the exhibition in 2004 and also used as the feature on the Friends' Christmas cards that year. In 2005 and 2006  I have also been a finalist in the Waterhouse Natural History Prize at the South Australian Museum and have exhibited interstate and as well as with botanical artists in Victoria. I find that my subject matter is increasingly indigenous plants generally flowering trees and bushes or other sculptural or intricately patterned flowers and seeds.
