Catherine has been watercolour painting for five years, under the tuition of Terry Napier at Park Orchards Community House. Her interest in botanical drawing was initiated whilst she was undertaking an Agricultural Science degree, as part of the course involved drawing botanically accurate representations of common crop weeds. Quite some time later, Catherine had the opportunity to take up botanical art, and finds it a creatively satisfying blend of several interests. It combines her formal education in botany, her passion for gardening and her enjoyment of painting. To date, Catherine’s botanical subjects have largely been cottage garden flowers grown in her garden, but in the future she would like to include Australian alpine plants.
