Joan Duval

Born in Arrowtown , New Zealand , Joan developed a love of plants and flowers from her mother who was an avid collector of Alpines and bulbs. She graduated as a nurse from Dunedin School of Nursing and travelled overseas. She met and married an Australian, moved to Melbourne then Bells Beach , where she combined her nursing career with bringing up a family and gardening. She studied for and obtained an Advanced Certificate in Horticulture in the1990’s and continues to work in that field. She has been studying Botanical Art with Margaret Muffet for the past four years and has also attended John Pastoriza-Piñol’s classes in 2005. She received the Botanical Art prize at Waurn Ponds Art Show in 2006.
