Beverley Allen

Formerly a graphic designer and illustrator Beverly has been a botanical artist since 1998. She has shown annually at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney ‘Botanica’ Exhibition since 1999, ‘The Art of Botanical Illustration’ since 2000 and exhibits regularly with the American Society of Botanical Artists in New York and Washington . Her work is held in private collections internationally as well as at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation and in The Shirley Sherwood Collection. Recently she co-founded The Florilegium Society at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney.
Beverly is drawn to the simple truthfulness of botanical painting, enjoying the detail and rigour of accurate botanical representation and the challenge of capturing the natural posture of the plant through both composition and the play of light and shade within the colours.
