Rita Parkinson Rita was born in the UK and gained a B. Fine Arts from St Martins School of Art in London and a Diploma in Art History from the Courthauld Institute. She worked for many years as a freelance illustrator, mainly in the field of children's literature and educational publishing. She is now working exclusively as a botanical artist in Melbourne. Her paintings can be found in collections in Australia New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Her painting of Yucca gloriosa was bought for the State collection of Victoria in 2000 from the Art of Botanical Illustration exhibition at the National Herbarium. She received a gold medal in 2002 at the Royal Horticultural Society winter exhibition, for a series of paintings of the Agavaceae family.
