John Pastoriza Piņol John has completed a Bachelor of Science at Monash University, and a Bachelor of Science with Honours at The University of Melbourne specialising in Botany. He has been invited to study a Doctoral course at the University of Vigo, Spain, where he is investigating the environmental impact of Tasmanian Blue Gums, Eucalyptus globulus subsp globulus in Galicia, North West Spain. John is a keen plantsman and his garden Botanique has been open under the Australian Open Garden Scheme in 1996 and 2000. The garden contains a variety of rare and unusual plants, which includes a large range of herbaceous woodland plants from the Northern hemisphere and the Iberian Peninsula. Many of the rare and unusual plants become subjects for his botanical illustrations. Through the Botanical Art School of Melbourne, John has had the opportunity to present his work at various exhibitions including the 150th anniversary of the Geelong Botanical Gardens 2001, 34th Annual Easter Rotary Arts Exhibition in Bendigo and the Annual Botanical Art School of Melbourne exhibitions 2000, 2001.
