John Armstrong John started painting in 1988 after a course with Anita Barley at Burnley Horticulture School and continued in 1991 with classes with Jenny Phillips and in 1998 with Anne-Marie Evans. He only illustrates Australian Native Plants and has been involved in the writing and illustrating of "The Flora of Melbourne" 1991, illustrations for the glossary of "Brachyscomes of Australia" 1995, illustrations of Pultenaeas and Almaeea for the "Flora of Victoria" V3, 1996. He has an interest in studying native plants and has traveled widely throughout Australia collecting and studying them over many years. He has exhibited at The Art of Botanical Illustration in 1996, 98, 2000, Wiregrass gallery Eltham 1996, 2000, Sotherby's Decorator Show at the Observatory, Royal Botanic Gardens, 1996, Puffinery Gallery Sherbrook, 1997, Herring Island, Melbourne, 2000, Whitehill Gallery, Rde Hill, 2000, Cranbourne Botanical Gardens Bushfest, 2000, 2001, Geelong Gallery, 2001, and The Hunt Gallery, Pittsburgh U.S.A. 2001, Villa Mulberry, 2001, 2002.
