Helen Fitzgerald

Born into an artistic family in Sydney, Helen’s artistic career started quite early. She was nineteen when her first painting was accepted for the prestigious Australian Wynne art Exhibition. In 1968 she went overseas to work and study for three years. Helen has been teaching art, Science and Botanical Illustration for over 35 years at universities, TAFE colleges and schools in Australia and the U.K.

Helens studies have included art, architecture, ecology and languages at universities in Italy and Australia . Her strong interest in the preservation of Australian flora and fauna is reflected in her stunning botanical and zoological artworks. Helen’s hard work and talent culminated in 2002 with the highest award for botanical art by the Royal Horticultural Society, London .
