Frank is responsible for overseeing research in the Plant Sciences Branch, National Herbarium of Victoria at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Current research projects include collaborating in two ARC Linkage projects on systematics of Eucalyptus, Angophora and allied genera, and uncovering the phylogenetic relationships of Australian Acacias. Work has recently commenced on an ABRS funded project to complete the Flora of Australia treatment of Rhamnaceae. Other research interests include investigation of novel DNA regions useful for systematics, and phylogeny of fungi.
