Highlights of the bushland

The Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne is the ancestral home of the Mayone-Bulluk clan of the Boonerwurung people.

From 1889 until the 1960's  the site was used by the military, with licences also issued for sand extraction, grazing and timber felling

The Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne was established in 1970, for the purpose of the conservation, research, display and enjoyment of Australian native plants.  The Gardens first opened to the public in 1989.
