Director’s Circle relaunch

This week more than 100 members of the Director's Circle were invited to a special event to celebrate the relaunch of the Gardens' key support group the Director's Circle.

Professor Timothy J Entwisle, who started as Director and Chief Executive in March this year, shared his vision for the Director's Circle and the Gardens more broadly. As paton of the Circle, Prof Entwisle encouraged members to share their passion for the Gardens by contributing their ideas, expertise and opinions about proposed projects and potential opportunities.

Guests were also treated to a rare view of specimens from the Foreign Collection usually housed in the National Herbarium of Victoria at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.  The Foreign Collection contains more than 300,000 specimens gathered during the 19th century that are yet to be mounted and made accessible electronically. With the help of support groups like the Director's Circle, the Gardens hopes to have most of the collection digitised within three years.
