Status Survey and Conservation Action Plan for Fungi

The Fungi Specialist Group has embarked on preparation of a global Status Survey and Conservation Action Plan for Fungi, to be published in 2008.

This document will cover all fungi and include the folowing sections:

1. Introduction

2. Classification, diversity and distribution of fungi

3. Overview of fungal biology and ecology

4. Arguments for why conserve fungi

5. Sampling, mapping and monitoring fungi

6. Threats to fungi

7. Global overview of fungal red-lists and fungi in management and conservation

8. Regional overviews

9. Conservation strategies for fungi

10. Guide-lines for fungal red-listing

The report will include short case studies about particular fungi, that exemplify the different threats to fungi and approaches to their conservation in different parts of the world.
