Royal Botanic Gardens Minibeasts Program + Bugs! 3D @ IMAX

A Rainforest Adventure and a journey to another world, where insects rule! ~With Imax

Visit the Royal Botanic Gardens and The Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden to see how minibeasts and plants make remarkable connections. Go on a minibeast hunt in the Rainforest, meet a carnivorous plant, get close-up with worms and make minibeast-repellant potpourri, and find out what minibeasts have moved in at The Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden. Then through the power of giant screen 3D filmmaking, go deep inside the dramatic and savage world of these little guys, in Bugs! 3D at IMAX. This unique film tells the story of life and death in the wilds of the tropical rain forest, using stunning macro-photography and 3D imagery to accurately convey the tiny dramas of bug life on a grand scale. Royal Botanic Gardens Aboriginal Resource Trail + a Koorie Heritage Trust program

Culture to hear, to talk with, to experience... to share! ~With the Koorie Heritage Trust

The Aboriginal Resource Trail is designed to give students a greater understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture, particularly of the local Kulin Nation. Students will understand the significance of Waa (the raven) and Birrarung (Yarra River). Experiences at the Gardens include making and using ochre paint, string-making and a hands-on exploration of tools. The emphasis is on diversity and examining sustainable land practices used by Aboriginal people.

The Koorie Heritage Trust offers a wide variety of programs designed and delivered by Indigenous cultural guides and educators. Programs are tailored to suit all levels of primary, secondary and tertiary students. KHT education programs have been mapped against Victorian Essentials Learning Standards (VELS).

Teachers can obtain information regarding curriculum, learning outcomes and follow-up classroom activities from www.koorieheritagetrust.com.

At the Trust you will discover the richness and diversity of South-Eastern Indigenous culture through a showcase of art, artefacts, maps and cultural interpretation all designed to be informative, engaging and enlightening. Experience the unfolding of the history of early Melbourne, and importantly learn of the Indigenous cultural significance of this particular site, located in the middle of the city.
