The University of Melbourne

Dr. Cassandra McLean, who has 15 years research experience in Ericoid mycorrhizae, supervises a number of students at Burnley Campus, Melbourne University who are undertaking orchid research. This research includes techniques for improving the cultivation of Caladenia species, fungal associations, reintroduction techniques and genetic and evolutionary relationships of fungi and their host species.

Professor Roger Cousens has also had an interest in orchid research and conservation, having helped with monitoring of Caladenia versicolor since 1999, and has supervised a number of students investigating ecological data for orchid conservation decision-making and analysis and matrix modelling for understanding of orchid population dynamics.
