Take a stroll around one of Melbourne’s most famous lakes at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne
Did you know that the Royal Botanic Gardens’ famous Ornamental Lake was created when the Yarra River was straightened in 1901 to combat regular flooding?
The Ornamental Lake has long been a popular spot for picnics but now visitors to the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne can enjoy a leisurely walk around the Lake and discover more about the history, plants and wildlife of this incredibly scenic area from expert guides.
The Lakeside Stroll gives visitors the chance to spot tortoises, learn how the Separation Tree got its name and find out how the Ornamental Lake evolved from a swamp wetland to the stunning lake it is today.
