The Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden will temporarily close from 11 July to 7 September to allow it to rest over winter.
Since opening on 23 October last year, approximately 150,000 children and their families have visited this botanical wonderland.
Dr Philip Moors, Director, Royal Botanic Gardens, said: "There is no doubt that children love this garden.
"Now The Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden needs time to rest and recover over winter so that it can spring into action later this year. This winter hibernation will give the plants a chance to have a holiday and our staff can do essential horticultural maintenance. We plan to give the plants a winter holiday every year."
Designed for and by children, the Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden aims to enable children of all ages and physical abilities to explore and discover the wonders of plants and their importance in our lives.
"We’ve been delighted by the response over the past six months, with so many children taking part in our activities, as well as taking time out to explore and learn more about plants," said Dr Moors.
