Customer Service Officer (Cranbourne Gardens)

The Royal Botanic Gardens (RBG) Cranbourne is one of Victoria’s most precious areas of native bushland and offers nature-lovers the chance to explore 363 hectares of untouched heathlands, wetlands and woodlands.  These expansive natural gardens are home to thriving bird and animal life, including several rare and endangered species. RBG Cranbourne is also home to a new garden - the Australian Garden - a place where visitors can immerse themselves in Australian flora, landscapes, art and architecture. This amazing new garden features a gallery of exhibition gardens, sculpture and displays - all highlighting the beauty and diversity of our Australian landscape.  

Based at the Visitor Centre, you will enjoy interacting and greeting our wide variety of visitors.  Your role will include administrative and reception duties as well as face-to-face and telephone enquiries about the RBG’s facilities, services and programs, venue hire and special activities/events, ticket sales and bookings. This is a full-time role, working Sunday to Thursday. 

You have demonstrated experience in providing high quality customer service in a busy environment, an ability to think on your feet, and excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.  The most important thing however, is that you are focussed on providing our visitors with positive and memorable experiences. 

Incumbents may be engaged in child related work and as such will require a successful ‘Working with Children Check’ prior to commencement.

Vacancy – Customer Service Ranger (Melbourne Gardens)

• 7-mth position
• Work Saturday and Sundays 

Leading cultural and tourism institution, the Royal Botanic Gardens (RBG), is seeking experienced and suitably qualified individuals to join our Customer Service team. As Customer Service Ranger, you will be primarily responsible for protecting the assets of the RBG and ensuring visitors have a positive and memorable experience of the Gardens.

Your role will include face-to-face customer service and administration based at our Visitor Centre as well as patrol duties, enforcing regulations and responding to emergencies.   As a first point of contact for visitors, you will provide world class public programs, services and information to a diverse and growing audience, while at all times ensuring visitor safety.  

You will have excellent customer service skills and experience in providing general information to visitors.  Basic horticultural knowledge is desirable, but not essential.  This part-time position will require you to work Saturdays and Sundays as well as public holidays.
